Spalding Business Improvement District (BID)
A Business Improvement District has been established in Spalding; this is a business led initiative to improve the BID area (a defined area of Spalding town centre), by using funds raised by placing a levy on all businesses in the defined area of Spalding.
The BID itself is operated by a collection of local businesses independent of the council, who will come together to decide where and how to disperse the funds raised according to their own business plan. However, as part of our support for the process South Holland District Council has agreed to collect the levy on behalf of the BID, using Public Sector Partnership Services Limited (PSPS) to carry out this process. PSPS is acting on behalf of SHDC to collect the fund and in doing so needs to collect data on behalf of the Council for this purpose.
The notices for the 2024/25 levy were sent out in February 2025, using their business rate address information. The levy will be paid annually with payment required within 14 days of notices being received, with this expected to take place around June time moving forwards. If you fail to pay the levy the process for non-payment of business rates will be followed which can be found here.
This is money from businesses, for use by businesses, in the interest of businesses. Nobody understands the challenges and opportunities Spalding has better than the businesses who are based there and who depend upon it, and the Council will continue to support the BID where appropriate to help shape, protect and improve the town's future.
For anyone wishing to find out more information about the BID or to contact its members, they can email hello@spaldingbid.co.uk or visit the BID's website at www.spaldingbid.co.uk. Help for businesses on how to pay the levy can be found on the letter they receive and on the Council's payment section of the website at www.sholland.gov.uk/article/27893/Spalding-BID.
