Welland Homes

Welland Homes is a housing company wholly owned by South Holland District Council (SHDC). SHDC is the shareholder. The company has six directors who are also SHDC councillors. They are legally responsible for running the company.

The company was incorporated in 2015 and currently has 53 high quality market rental homes in its ownership in Spalding, Long Sutton, Crowland and Holbeach.

The company was established with the following principal objectives:

• To increase housing supply in the area to address existing demand and meet the needs of a growing population, and help boost growth in the local economy;
• To act as a stimulus for change to improve the quality of rented sector accommodation across the district;
• To set standards for good housing design in the local housing market, helping to protect the character of the district, and;
• To generate general fund income for the Council through returns from Private Rented Sector housing and sales receipts from market housing sales and affordable homes.

Whilst the Company's principle objectives relate to the provision of much needed, good quality housing, an additional objective is to provide a financial benefit to the council and the District. During 2021, Welland Homes paid £111,000 to two charities in the district who are supporting residents of South Holland, with £115,000 donated in 2022, £114,960 in 2023 and a further £128,274 in 2024.
