Planning application consultations
When land is considered for redevelopment, the planning department consult Environmental Health for advice relating to contamination. When insufficient information is provided with the application, we may recommend conditions relating to land contamination. It is the developer's responsibility to procure and submit these documents through the planning department.
Guidance as to what is acceptable is given in the YALPAG Planning Guidance (Version 11.2) (PDF) [1MB] .
It is strongly recommended that you employ a competent consultant to undertake this work on your behalf. It is vital that you allow sufficient time within the building program to allow these conditions to be discharged, as they are 'pre-commencement' conditions. Three to six months is not unusual. If you have any questions, please contact your planner in the first instance.
For small developments (less than 10 houses) and some barn conversions, we ask that a Screening Assessment Form (Version 11.2) (PDF) [221KB] be submitted prior to determination. You are advised to provide as much information as possible, and plenty of photos.
