What this Privacy Notice covers

South Holland District Council is the Data Controller responsible for the personal information you may provide in relation to Private Sector Housing. Your data will be processed by Public Sector Partnership Services Ltd (PSPS), formerly known as Compass Point Business Services, a company which is owned and controlled by East Lindsey and South Holland District Councils. Why we need your personal data

You are applying for registration and licence of a House in Multiple Occupation and we require the information to assess your application before we can process the registration. The legal basis for processing your data is Article 6.1(c) of the General Data Protection Regulations. The processing is necessary for compliance with a legal obligation to which the controller is subject to: Housing Act 2004, Management of Houses in Multiple Occupation (Additional Provisions) (England) Regulations 2007, The Licensing of Houses in Multiple Occupation (Mandatory Conditions of Licences) (England) Regulations 2018.

We collect and hold information about you in order to:

  • confirm your identity and eligibility
  • contact you by telephone, email or post
  • prevent and detect fraud and corruption in the use of public funds
  • allow us to undertake statutory functions efficiently and effectively
  • make sure we meet our statutory obligations.

How your data is used

The information you provide will only be used for these purposes and we will only contact you should we require further information about your application. All of your information will be processed in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and will only be used by us and our partners, Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue Service, the UK Visa and Immigration Service as part of the registration process. Please note that your name and address and the name and address of any manager will appear on publicly available registers as prescribed by the Licensing and Management of Houses in Multiple Occupation and Other Houses (Misc Provisions) (England) Regulations 2006. Apart from that register we will not disclose any personal information to any other third parties unless required to do so by law.

How long the information is kept for

Information will be kept for as long as the application/licence is current and for a period of 6 years afterwards on re-view.
