The South Lincolnshire Food Enterprise Zone (FEZ)
The South Lincolnshire Food Enterprise Zone (FEZ) at Holbeach, sitting at the heart of the UK Food Valley, covers an area of 17 hectares of employment space and is split into two phases. There is also permission for 900 homes to be built close to the FEZ.
A Local Development Order was adopted on 20th November 2018. It has been designed to streamline the planning process by removing the need for developers to make separate planning applications for development within the FEZ. Its main focus is to create bespoke, high quality business space for new businesses and SME's specifically in the agri-tech sector; with particular emphasis on creating a suitable environment for high tech businesses developing cutting edge technology and innovations.
Specialisms we would like to attract include the food supply chain, productivity, food sustainability, logistics and packaging. Facilities will be provided to support these businesses.
The University of Lincoln have already built and occupied two buildings on site, the National Centre for Food Manufacturing and the Institute of Technology buildings, and a 3rd, the "Hub" building that will provide business accommodation and ancillary space to encourage collaboration and stimulate sharing of ideas and best practice is under construction and on track to open Q2 2022.
This multi-use space hub building will provide small and medium-sized business tenants with support services, networking, meeting & events space and catering. There will also be workshops and offices, specifically designed for small or start-up businesses within the agri-tech sector to establish themselves utilising access to the best support and expertise. It will offer specialised, collaborative environments and flexible, cost effective property solutions, enabling food industry participants to exchange knowledge, boost productivity and grow.
