Armed Forces Personnel

Information and services are available for Service leavers and Veterans to assist them with accessing and maintaining suitable accommodation both on discharge and later in life.

Social housing

If you wish to apply for social housing, you will need to Apply to join the Housing Register (opens new window) If you require any assistance with this, you can contact us on 01775 761161 or housingoptions@sholland.gov.uk

To be considered for registration you should meet a local connection criteria however, if you don't have this we can still consider your application if it is made within 5 years of discharge.

The Veterans Gateway is a service that provides clear pathways for ex-Service personnel in need of housing throughout the United Kingdom and is the first point of contact for Veterans seeking support.

The Veterans Gateway is made up of a consortium of organisations and Armed Forces charities and their main aim is to make accessing services easier and provide you with any help you need or direct you to the other areas of information. Here you will find advice from a range of organisations on issues such as employment, finance, housing, independent living, mental wellbeing, physical health, families and communities.

SSAFA (opens new window) SSAFA Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Families Association can provide assistance to current or previous members of the Armed Forces community.

Free mobility aids

E.ON Homes for Living team have a range of mobility aids on offer to support independent living, giving people the equipment to feel mobile and confident at home. From bathroom aids to garden rails, equipment is free to those who are eligible.

You do not need to be an E.ON customer to apply. Eligibility is based on household income and receipt of certain benefits by someone living in the property. If you are interested please click the Eon Homes for Living (opens new tab) link for further information and to apply.
