Summer of fun comes to South Holland!

A summer of fun is just around the corner for South Holland residents as the Council announces a jam-packed schedule of free family activities to get involved in over the coming weeks.

The calendar of events, organised by the Council's Communities team will kick off with 'Activate' on Wednesday 2 August at Weston Playing Field between 11am and 3pm. The event has been very popular in recent years, focusing on giving children, young people and their families in the local area opportunity to try new sports and arts activities for free.
Activities on the day will include the mobile climbing wall, arts and crafts, Nature Lab, and plenty of garden games and sports for all to enjoy. Transported will also be in attendance to deliver Aerial Programme taster session and performances.
Two further 'Activate' sessions will be then held elsewhere in District, coming to Sutton Bridge Memorial Park Playing Field on Wednesday 16 August (11am - 3pm) and Gosberton House Academy School Field on Wednesday 23 August (11am - 3pm).
Additionally, the Council will be holding a 'Skate Jam' event with the help of skateboarding experts Team Rubicon on Tuesday 8 August at Crowland Skate Park (10am - 3pm), all ages and abilities are welcome, from those who wish to learn to skate and scooter for the first time, to those wanting to show off and improve their talents.
Next up, 'Give it a Go' is back again for another year, returning on Sunday 13 August at the Sir Halley Stewart Playing Field (11am - 3pm) offering local residents a jam-packed day of free activities from local sport clubs and community groups, who will be doing a range of workshops and demonstrations, giving everyone the chance to learn something new.
As part of the event the South Holland District Council Chairman, Councillor Andrew Woolf will also host a 'Tug O War' competition in aid of his chosen charities, Blood Cancer UK and Mencap.
A Summer Fun Digital Brochure 2023 has also been produced, which can found on the Council's website, with a huge variety of events and activities happening across the District over the summer holidays, including: gymnastic summer camp sessions, art workshops, crash course swimming lessons, bug hunting, dance parties and much more!
