South Holland District Council will resume its expansion of their popular Garden Waste Scheme in January next year, giving thousands more residents across the District the chance to join.

Following the success of the refuse and recycling re-routes which took place in October, a programme of work will begin to meet the growing demand from residents in a phased approach to those who are signed up to the 'Register Of Interest' list.

Residents who have contacted the Council previously about joining the garden waste scheme and registered their interest, do not need to contact the Council again. Those already registered will receive a letter explaining what steps they need to take to join the scheme and receive their bin.

Households who have been on the list the longest will be given priority grouped in geographical areas in order to join pre-existing routes, with subscriptions being offered out each week.

Residents who are not already on the list, but who like to be part of the expansion plans can join the 'Register Of Interest'.

Councillor Jack Tyrrell, Portfolio Holder for Environmental Services, said: "Our garden waste scheme has always been popular with residents across the District, making it more convenient for them to work on their garden and instead of having to drive to their local HWRC with their waste, we'll pick it up from their door."

"I'm really pleased that as a Council we can begin to roll-out to more households and tackle our existing waiting list starting in January next year. We will do our best to get as many new people on the scheme as we can, but do bear with us during this time and we will get you when we are able to do so."
