Council owned housing company purchases 7 new rental properties in South Holland

Seven more new, quality properties in Crowland and Sutton St James have been made available for market rent following a purchase by Welland Homes, a housing company wholly owned by South Holland District Council.
The properties, consisting of three 2-bedroom and four 3-bedroom houses, were bought during October and are already fully occupied by market renters.
The purchase takes Welland Homes portfolio of market rental properties to 53, with a further 4 homes approved for purchase. The new homes add to the homes already owned by the company in Spalding, Holbeach, Long Sutton and Crowland.
Welland Homes, which was incorporated in 2015, was created to increase the supply of housing in the area to meet the demand for high quality market rental accommodation and to improve quality in the rented sector.
The success of the company has also allowed it to make significant charitable donations yearly, most recently with £114,960 of profit split between Citizens Advice South Lincolnshire and the Lincolnshire Community & Voluntary Service, making a total of £340,000 donated to local good causes over the last three years.
In a joint statement, directors of the Welland Homes Board, Councillors Bryan Alcock, Henry Bingham, Michael Booth, Paul Redgate, Elizabeth Sneath and Jack Tyrrell said: "We are delighted to have this opportunity to increase our offer of quality rental properties across the District, and help local residents find the perfect home for them and their family.
"With the need for high quality market rental housing choices more important than ever right now, it is crucial that Welland Homes continues with its ambitions to grow and be a landlord of choice for the people of South Holland, whilst supporting vital local causes."
