District Council launches new Housing Advice & Support Hub
Posted on 1 March 2024
South Holland District Council is launching a new housing advice and support initiative to give residents free professional advice and support with a range of different housing issues, kicking off with an initial event at the South Holland Centre later this month.
The free event, which will run from 10:30am till 12:30pm on Tuesday 12 March, will see members of the Council's Housing Options team on hand to give expert opinions alongside partners from Department for Work & Pensions, Lincolnshire County Council, Citizens Advice, Mind CPSL, Tonic Health and more.
The new initiative has been created to help residents who may be struggling financially or with their mental health and wellbeing, having issues with landlords, be under threat of homelessness or suffering from domestic abuse.
Through these Hubs, the Council hopes to spread awareness of the free help, support and advice that is available for people and give access to vital resources and organisations that aim to help individuals in the District.
Whilst the first event is taking place at the South Holland Centre, the Council plans to hold similar events to this in the future across the entire District to help reach different communities.
Councillor Tracey Carter, Deputy Leader and Portfolio Holder for Communities and Operational Housing, said: "I'm really pleased that as a Council we've been able to bring forward this important new housing initiative, to provide a lifeline to residents experiencing challenges or issues with their housing needs, and to help them access vital support, expertise, funding or opportunities to improve things for them and their families.
"There has been a lot of planning to get all of our partner agencies and everything together for this event, so I'd like to encourage anyone who feels like they don't know where to turn next to come along and speak to the team, as the earlier we can help the better."
