SHDC 50 Years Flag Raising

The Chairman, Councillor Andrew Woolf raised the flag to celebrate 50 years of SHDC.

The District Council had been formed on the1st April 1974 following the Local Government Act of 1972 which led to the restructure of local government.

Over those 50 years, many changes had occurred as the local government landscape had changed. Shared partnerships with Breckland Council and more recently Boston Borough Council and East Lindsey District Council, had seen South Holland District Council ahead of the game to maintain it's front line services for all residents.

Many people had passed through the doors at Priory Road and the Chairman thanked both Members and Officers for their work serving the public. The Chairman concluded by asking that we remember those who had passed, but had been an integral part of SHDC's last 50 years.

The flag raising was attended by some of our long standing councillors who had seen many changes throughout the years.
