Less than a week to go: residents are encouraged to respond to Council's waste survey

Waste survey

With the final deadline less than a week away, South Holland District Council is encouraging residents to respond to its waste survey before it closes.

Having launched the survey online and in paper format on Monday 15 July, more than 7,200 residents have completed the survey (at the time of publishing), giving their views on the current waste and recycling service and how they would like to see it improved in future.

To raise the profile of the survey, the Council held consultation events at Spalding, Holbeach and Crowland markets, the final of which will be at Long Sutton on Friday (23 August) from 9am till 2pm as well as attending a number of communities events with our communities' team.

Alongside this, the Council also distributed flyers to households around the District, posters to all Parish Councils within South Holland, coordinated with local and regional media, as well as making printed copies available in the reception at their Priory Road offices, Ayscoughfee Hall and in the South Holland Centre.

The survey will help in the Council's consideration of how to potentially develop the service alongside upcoming Government changes to household waste collection services across all of the UK. These changes, driven by environmental concerns and changes to legislation, will see the introduction of weekly food waste collections across England by March 2026.

With the survey set to close at 11:59pm on Sunday 25 August, residents are now being encouraged to not delay getting their responses back, as any submitted after this deadline will not be included.

Councillor Jack Tyrrell, Portfolio Holder for Environmental Services, said: "It's been a busy few weeks for both myself and officers from across the Council as we've been hard at work trying to get the message out to as many residents as we can.

"If you've been putting off filling it in, make sure you do it before this Sunday otherwise your response won't be included in the results, and you'll miss out on your chance to have your say.

"Finally, I'd like to thank everyone who has taken the time to engage with us whether at our in-person events, sharing it with their friends and family on social media or filling in the survey itself - we've had some very helpful discussions and I'm pleased so many people want to give us their views on this."
