South Holland's commitment to Tackling Environmental Crime
Posted on 3 December 2024
South Holland continues to demonstrate its firm commitment to tackling environmental crime, with Kingdom LA Support leading the charge. The team has been actively patrolling the district, responding to reports, and investigating incidents of fly-tipping and littering.
Since the Kingdom contract began in April 2023 there have been 84 FPN's issued for fly tipping, 20 in the last 3 months. This rise in enforcement actions highlights the district's proactive approach to maintaining a cleaner and safer environment.
Councillor Anthony Casson, Portfolio Holder for Public Protection at South Holland District Council, expressed his satisfaction with the progress at a recent meeting, stating: "I am pleased to see LA Support doing a grand job. I am pleased to see these figures on the rise and evidence shows that from a year ago things are definitely improving.
"The efforts of Kingdom LA Support are a testament to South Holland's dedication to environmental stewardship and community well-being. The increased enforcement not only deters potential offenders but also reassures residents that their concerns are being addressed."
John Roberts, Senior Operating Officer from Kingdom Local Authority Support, said: "Our continued partnership with South Holland District Council has yielded significant results in the fight against environmental crime. Together, we have started to make real strides in addressing fly-tipping, littering, and other waste offences, demonstrating the impact of a collaborative and proactive approach.
"By working closely with the Council, we will continue delivering a service rooted in the principles of Engagement, Education, Encouragement, and Enforcement, which has not only led to increased enforcement actions but has also contributed to cleaner, safer public spaces. The rise in Fixed Penalty Notices reflects the success of this partnership in investigating offences and working with the community to address their concerns.
"As we move forward, we remain committed to supporting the Council's efforts to enhance environmental stewardship."
We will also be engaging with future generations through education to reduce environmental crime in the future, as well as working on projects throughout our partnership, ensuring a greener, healthier future for all.
