Fenland Flag Raising
The Chairman, Councillor Andrew Woolf, alongside James Bowman from Ely, Leader Councillor Nick Worth, and Councillor Laura Eldridge, proudly raised the Fenland Flag to celebrate our region's rich heritage and strong community spirit.

The Fenland Flag is deeply rooted in local history.

The symbol of the Fens is the Fen Tiger, a name that originates from the fierce resistance of the local population to the drainage schemes of the 17th century.

Even today, 'Fen Tiger' remains a proud nickname for people from the Fens, with many businesses and associations using the term and tiger imagery in their branding.
The flag's design reflects the regions identity;
The 'central yellow field' represents agricultural prosperity.

The 'blue outer fields' symbolize the fens' vast natural and manmade waterways. The 'heraldic tiger' at its heart embodies the resilience and pride of Fenland communities.

The Chairman thanked everyone who joined him to mark this special occasion.
