Local Democracy school visits

Do your pupils want to know how decisions, that directly affect them, are made and who makes them? If so, your school is invited to visit South Holland District Council to see local democracy in action.

As part of a visit, your pupils will receive a presentation which explains how local democracy works. The presentations are provided by our own district councillors and allows young people to engage directly with decision makers.

Comments from Spalding High School staff and pupils:

  • "A really clear insight into the workings of the Council."
  • "Highly informative and it was good that questions from students were welcomed."
  • "It was a really informative visit and the members of the council seemed to really enjoy working with the students."
  • "It was an interesting experience and we learnt a lot."
  • "It was really good to learn about the role of the council because I was not aware of how it worked before."
