Assisted refuse collections

Assisted refuse collection (point of storage) is a service available for those who cannot physically move their household waste or recycling sacks to the boundary of their property.

Request an assisted collection

Assisted refuse collection requests are individually assessed. To apply, you should contact us to request an application form by calling 01775 761161.

When completing the assisted refuse collection application form, be sure to explain the reasons why you're unable to move your refuse and/or recycling sack to the boundary of your property.Once completed please return your application form to Environmental Services, South Holland District Council, Bervor Close, Wardentree Park, Spalding, Lincolnshire, PE11 3ZN or email to  wasteservices@sholland.gov.uk .Your application will then be assessed and we'll let you know within two weeks whether your application has been approved. If approved, we will then give you details of when your point of storage collections will start.

How assisted refuse collection works

If you have an assisted refuse collection agreement with us, we will collect your refuse/recycling sacks from a point which is outside of your property, for example:

  • outside a front door or porch
  • outside the back door or near the garage.

You'll need to have your waste/recycling sacks placed at the agreed point of storage no earlier than 6pm the day before collection, and by 6am on your day of collection.

Other support

You may also consider signing up with your water supply company, who may be able to offer similar support services.

Anglian Water supplies water and water recycling services to more than six million homes and business in the East of England. We understand that from time to time some people will need extra care and that's what their priority service offers. If registered, they can give extra help with:

  • water, when the supply is interrupted
  • special tariffs
  • alternative ways of getting information
  • reassurance against bogus callers.

Visit the Anglian Water website to apply for their priority service (opens new window).
