What this Privacy Notice covers
Your privacy is very important to South Holland District Council.
South Holland District Council is the Data Controller responsible for the personal information you may provide in relation to complaints about district and parish councillors. Why we need your personal data
Your information will be used to assist during any investigation of your complaint or MP Enquiry in order to enable the Councils' investigating officer to assess your complaint and provide you with a suitable response. The legal basis for processing your data is Article 6.1(e) of the General Data Protection Regulations 2018, that it is necessary for the performance of a task carried out in the public interest or in the exercise of official authority vested in the Council, alternatively we process certain data under Article 6.1(a) of the General Data Protection Regulations 2018, on the basis of consent to investigate a complaint you have requested us to consider.
How your data is used
We will only use your data for the specific purpose of investigating your complaint and making an assessment as to how to response and rectify any errors. In order to investigate your complaint, we will usually share your data with the relevant investigating officers.
How long the information is kept for
We will keep your complaint and all associated details for six years, unless your complaint is passed to the Local Government Ombudsman, in which case it will be kept for ten years. After which point the information will be securely destroyed.
