Tenant engagement and involvement
Ways of being involved
We recognise that our tenants should have a key role in influencing our decision making about the housing services they receive. We are working with TPAS, an external organisation, to understand views on how we can improve and provide a better experience for you in the future. Thank you to everyone who took the time to complete our recent tenant survey we received an impressive 482 responses! You can find a summary of the results here (Reengineering Tenant Engagement Survey results - August 24 (PDF, 2 MB)) Your input will guide the improvements we make to better serve our community.
We want to make participation easy and not create obstacles. We want you to be involved at times that suit you, therefore we are in the process of developing more involvement opportunities.
There are a variety of ways that you can get involved to change the Housing Service and make it better.
You can become involved by:
· Reading the letters we write to you
· Reading the annual report that is circulated with tenants
· Visiting our website www.sholland.gov.uk
· Looking at our Facebook page by searching for South Holland District Council on your Facebook page
· Emailing your comments and ideas to us at get-involved@sholland.gov.uk
· Making a suggestion
· Completing questionnaires and consultations via traditional methods and online
· Attending events (such as sheltered housing focus groups)
· Attending public meetings (Getting involved - South Holland District Council)
Or simply telling us what you think.
As we continue to develop our menu of involvement opportunities we would like to invite all tenants to become involved. If you would like to put your name forward to be the first to hear about future opportunities to get involved please email get-involved@sholland.gov.uk or call the Housing Transformation team on 01775761161
Tenant Census - Spring/Summer 2023
The census is now complete. We would like to thank tenants for their support with completing this vital piece of work.
We are pleased to say that we received 2607 responses, which equates to 70% of our households. This piece of work will help us to update our records and make sure we are providing the right services to tenants and that your needs are properly met. A summary of the responses can be found here.
Our prize draw has been completed and the winning households have been contacted.
Right to Manage
The Right to Manage offers tenants the option to form a Tenant Management Organisation (TMO) which allows tenants to take over responsibility for managing housing services, such as repairs, caretaking, and rent collection from their landlord. As part of a TMO the members are unpaid volunteers who want to improve the quality of people's lives by taking on more responsibility for local services. Further information about the Right to Manage is provided in the government guidance - Right to Manage guidance.
